Firstly, egg laying creatures don't become pregnant, but I know what you mean. I am guessing that you are talking about a female, so what you have to do is put a male in a large cage with it. Give the two a nesting box and wait a couple of months. If any signs of fighting occur, separate them for a while, gradually bringing them together.

How long is a budgies gestation for?

Birds including budgies do not get 'pregnant' they lay eggs, incubate the eggs which then hatch into chicks.I saw my budgies mate together Dec. 26, 2010. I separated them to another cage, away from my other 3 budgies. I put in their cage 2 nesting boxes. Every day I checked for eggs. Today, Jan. 24, 2011, I found 2 eggs in the corner of their cage, on the floor of the cage. They did not like the nesting boxes I provided. That is about a month gestation.

This is typical pre-nesting behaviour. The budgies, in particular the female, are preparing the nesting box for nesting. Some pairs of budgies never successfully breed, but they still display all the signs and behaviour of wanting to nest.
