1. Something that was constructed with poles intertwined with twigs, or branches. The frame-like structure was used for roofs, walls and fences.

"Wattle and daub" was also a method for building houses during medieval and colonial times. The frame was constructed by interweaving branches (as mentioned above) and then the gaps filled in with a mud-like natural paste.

2. The red thing hanging down on a turkey's neck is a wattle.

3. Wattle is a native Australian plant. It belongs to the genus acacia, in the Mimosa family. The golden wattle (Acacia pycnantha) was officially gazetted as Australia's national floral emblem in 1988.
