Crows peck at windows because they see their reflection and think they are seeing another bird. They are also attracted to shiny objects and try to pick them up.

What do black crows pecking on windows mean?

I don't know why they do it but we've been living with crows for 20 years now here in south Australia and the've suddenly started pecking on all of the windows in the last two weeks or so. They certaily aren't hungry and some of the windows are pretty much always in the shade so they're not pecking at their reflections either. It's really annoying as they are very loud and a little disturbing. I'm going to hang bright dangly things outside the windows and see if that works.
