I am removing mine right now, I`m sick and tired of battling this high maintnance piece of crap. If its not a lack of power, its an issue with the outdrive, corrosion, overheating manifolds on and on and on. I run a sportfishing company and will NEVER go I/O again!
Anyway...............so far it seems pretty straightforward, removing all cables, wiring, etc.
there seams to only be four engine mount bolts on this one (4cyl 3.0lx) there is a chain loop on the back end of the manifold. I will let you know if there is anything unusual.
Hard to tell without a picture. Try ValueJockey.com it is free. you can post a picture there and get pricing help. Good Luck!!!
A sterndrive is a propulsion system found on boats where an inboard engine is connected to a steerable drive unit mounted on the back of the boat. The engine's power is transferred to the propeller through a system of gears to propel the boat. The steerable drive unit provides directional control by pivoting left or right to steer the boat.

There are 3 types of engines. Inboard engines, outboard engines and sterndrive engines. Sterndrive engines are located in the hull near the stern, but have a small leg protruding through the stern for the propellor. There will be a rubber gasket sealing the outboard leg from the inside of the boat.
A Mercruiser can be purchased at any local marine and boat retailer that carries Mercury models of boats. As well one could look in the Boat Trader magazine that contains many different models and makes and scan through to see if anyone is selling a Mercruiser.

It depends on the boat. Some have an engine cover that is removable and the engine can be removed easily. Others have the engine under a deck and you literally have to cut a hole in the deck to remove the engine. On really big boats it may be easier to cut a hole in the side of the boat to remove the engine.
