The oil filter is located at the bottom of the engine. It can be remove with an oil filter wrench. Do not remove the engine top cover unless you need to repair something very major.
Remove 2 bolts in front on the bottom of the engine cover. Remove 2 Phillips bolts in the ash tray area. and lastly there are two latches toward the back of the cover....one on each side. You then pull the bottom of the engine cover toward the rear and tilt the top out slowly. It's easy.
Follow the upper rad hose to the engine. You will need to remove the engine cover. To remove the cover turn the oil filler neck (not the cap).
