Usually with my experience no set amount of time will help you start it again.
If you are on the water disconnect the fuel tank. Try start it again and again until it splutters a few times and even a big puff of smokes comes out.
Once this happens its starting to work the fuel out of the carb.. Give it a few more goes and see if it almost starts kicks over without the fuel connected.
Connect fuel and try again and hope for the best :)
outboard motor will start and idle, but dies out under load
At the end of the rope stupid
Depends where the water (ie coolant) intake is

if you can find a kit the conversion is easy to do, it just bolts on, you can put the key swich any place by the motor
You will notice on the throttle handle that there are three positions on the legend. "Really Slow", "Start" and "Slow".
There is a plate on the port side of the motor leg behind the transom clamp that has the model number. It usually starts with a V for the Voyager brand. These motors are made by the same company that makes Champions, Majestics, and SeaFliers. I would start by going to the AOMCI (antique outboard motor club) site.
it would depend if the car is carburated, or fuel injected... if it is carburated it can flood the motor (if this happens just give it about 20 mins and try and start it again), if it is fuel injected nothing will happen.
