Yes, a Navy Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) outranks an Army or Marine Corps Captain. In the U.S. military, both the LCDR and Captain hold the same pay grade (O-4), but the Navy’s rank structure places the LCDR above the Captain in terms of hierarchical ranking. Therefore, while they share a similar pay grade, the LCDR is considered senior to the Army or Marine Captain.
