The correct mixture is 50:1 for run in motors. I would be suprised if your engine isn't run in unless its been rebuilt.

There are too many variables here to give you a solid answer, but my 21 foot Santana Sail Boat (weight approx: 1600lbs) goes 8-10mph.
Sodium chloride is soluble in water; approx. 360 g/L at 20 0C.
Just picked up a 1949 5hp for $75, seems to run well. plan on using it for fishing.
Most outboard motors are a 50 to 1 mix rate... but I prefer 40 to be safe... it also allows you to get away with a cheaper oil that can be found at Walmart (but don't do that with a high end 2 stroke such as an evinrude etec - for those - use the correct oil). A gallon is 128 ounces. Divide by 40 gives approx 3 ounces. So... you need 3 ounces of 2 stroke oil (don't use motor oil!) for every gallon of gas.
My Df 2.5 runs about 1 hour on full throttle. At low speeds it runs approx. 2-3 hours.
