the cylinder with the 140# reading would be of concern .the rest are good . Sometimes after sitting along time the exhaust and or intake valves could get a little corrosion on the sealing area allowing them to not seal as good . Running the engine for awhile should rid the corrosion and render a better compression test ,If no better readings on the second test , you might have a bad exhaust valve

What is the proper compression for a Suzuki Lt500?

your answer is not easy. do you want ratio or compression pressure. I would guess you are talking pressure, which on a stock engine is around 155 lbs.

What should the compression be on a geo traker?

The recommended compression for a Geo Tracker engine is typically around 170-190 psi for each cylinder. This will ensure proper engine performance and combustion. It's important to check compression as part of regular maintenance to catch any issues early.

What are the point gaps for mercruiser 470?

The MerCruiser 470 engine typically uses a point gap of 0.018 to 0.020 inches for the ignition points. It's important to check and adjust the gap periodically to ensure optimal engine performance and prevent misfiring. Always refer to the specific service manual for your model for the most accurate specifications. Proper maintenance of the ignition system is crucial for reliable operation.

Why does a 1999 Chrysler Concorde misfire?

The Concorde could misfire for several reasons. Start by checking for proper fire to the spark plugs. Then check engine compression to see if a cylinder compression is down.

Why won't your 1997 Toyota 4 Runner start?

If it does not start it is missing either spark, fuel under the proper pressure , compression or the timing of the ignition or the camshafts are incorrect. Start by determining what is present, check for spark, proper fuel pressure, engine compression.

In the purple wire connected to the positive or negative post on a mercruiser coil?

In a MerCruiser ignition system, the purple wire is typically connected to the positive post of the coil. This wire carries the voltage from the ignition switch to the coil, enabling it to generate a spark for the engine. It's important to ensure proper connections and functionality, as a faulty wire can lead to ignition problems. Always refer to the specific wiring diagram for your engine model for accurate information.

What psi is required per cylinder?

Typically, for a standard internal combustion engine, the ideal compression pressure per cylinder is around 120-160 psi. This ensures proper engine operation and performance. It is important to consult the specific manufacturer's guidelines for your engine to determine the exact compression pressure required.

Why wont your Chevy 350 start when the timing spark and fuel are good?

you need three things for an engine to run. proper air/fuel mixture, compression and spark at the proper time.

What is the proper wot rpm range for a 1983 mercruiser 260 5.7l Chevy?

my manual says 4200rpm to 4600rpm at full throttle

Vt commodore engine is missing and runnuing rough?

Check the engines timing to start with. Then check the engine for proper cylinder compression. Check the ignition coil and plug wires for breaks or leaking voltage.

Why would a 1993 Chevy 350 pickup engine crank but not fire?

The problem will turn out to be either fuel delivery, ignition (spark) or compression. If all three exist in the proper amounts/timing... the engine HAS to run.

What is compression for Johnson 25hp outboard motor?

Compression in a Johnson 25hp outboard motor refers to the pressure created in the combustion chamber during the compression stroke of the engine cycle. It is a critical factor that affects engine performance, fuel efficiency, and overall power output. Proper compression ensures that the air-fuel mixture ignites effectively, leading to smoother operation and better acceleration. If compression is low, it may indicate issues such as worn piston rings, damaged gaskets, or cylinder wear, requiring maintenance or repairs.
