All I needed was a USB cable that will fit into the DV outlet on the camera. The camera came with a USB cable that fits into the outlet labeled TO PC, but this only works with PCs, not Macs, so I needed to buy a USB cable that fit into the outlet labeled DV. Then, it worked like a dream. I'm using a Panasonic Palmcorder miniDV Web Camera, Model No PV-DV2020D.
Yes.....................
To capture video footage into iMovie from a digital video camera, first connect your camera to your computer using a USB or FireWire cable. Open iMovie and select "Import Media" from the File menu. Choose your connected camera from the devices listed, and then select the footage you want to import. Finally, click the "Import Selected" button to transfer the video clips into your iMovie project.
You do need a camera to use iMovie. Import pictures and clips that are already on your computer/mac.
Connect the camera to your Mac and run the iMovie program. iMovie should recognise your camera and you can then import your video.
The camera will mount on the desktop as a USB drive. The videos can be imported directly into iMovie (assuming it is a fairly recent version). You should probably avoid recording video in the WVGA format which is not iMovie friendly and will need converting.
You can record video from the built in camera directly into iMovie, PhotoBooth or any other application that recognizes the camera.
The GZ-MG330 has been tested with iMovie 09 (See links below) and just needs to be connected to the Mac with the USB cable. Switch the camera on and select it's Playback on PC setting. Launch iMovie and import the video for editing and sharing.
If you are using a digital camera instead of a video camera or if your camera is a Sony camera like mine, it might freeze.
Use the USB cable to connect the camera to the computer. Switch the camera on. Launch the iMovie application. Select Import from Camera... from iMovie's File menu.
Answer1:Go to, sony.com. Click on service & support. Click on drivers/software. Fill in information needed on the following screens. Answer 2:Any Video Converter Ultimate for Mac released by Anvsoft Inc. could allow your mac to recognize the camera, and could convert to a iMovie format, and then you can edit the video on your iMovie.
You can't use imovie for animation. There is a software called "boinx istop motion" for mac. That is what you use to make Lego animations, but it requires you to use a video camera.
iMovie on the mac is for editing your unedited movies that you may have filmed on PhotoBooth, or just made on a video camera. You can cut out parts, and add some things and then you have a great movie from the movie you already had.
