Electrode are some times broken due to: -

1) Electrodes making contact with a none metallic object as they are being hard pressed and ultimately broken. Electronic instruments are available to find this condition and take corrective measures to avert breakage of electrodes.

2) Scrap falling against the electrode(also known as scrap cave-in or collapse)

Above conditions are applicable for EAF

3) Electrode breaking at joints due to incorrect jointing (Not having the correct torque applied to the sections being jointed)

4) Rough handling prior to being used (While being moved or stored)

5) If thermosetting thead lock are missing due to some reason or other, the same mishap may happen.

6) Thread may have some entrapped external material which in turn damage the thread while torquing.

7) If phase sequence is not correct, electrode will be loosened from the joint and may fall in the molten metal.

What does it mean when you turn the heat on and it blows out cold air?

Not knowing what kind of furnace you have makes answering this difficult. What type of furnace do you have (gas, electric, oil) and how old is it?

What is the difference between Conarc furnace and eaf?

In BOF the steel making is done by blowing oxygen through a lance and in EAF it is done by producing an arc from the electrodes. A Con-arc furnace makes use of both the technologies i.e both the oxygen blowing and electrode arc method. The input for BOF is Hot metal whereas the input for EAF is scrap. but the input for Con-arc furnace is 50% Hot metal and 50% Scrap.

What makes ions attracted to the negative electrode?

positive ions

What happened to the electrodes as a result of the electric current flowing?

As electric current flows through the electrodes, they may experience heating due to resistance. This heating can cause the electrodes to degrade or even melt depending on the intensity and duration of the current. Additionally, the current may lead to chemical reactions at the electrode surface, resulting in oxidation or other forms of electrode degradation.

Does electrode float?

strange question... he would probably die, because water on electric makes a boom ------ Electrode has a height of 3'11 and a weight of 146.8 lbs. (66.6kg). Assuming that it has the shape of a perfect sphere, of which the diameter is its height, one could easily calculate its density: 73.6kg/m3. As the density of water is 1000kg/m3, Electrode should be easy for it to float on water while carrying something as heavy as 2,000 pounds (838kgs). Despite this, Electrode can't learn Surf. The reason behind this is unknown.

Why hydrogen is used as a standard electrode?

Hydrogen is used as a standard electrode because it has a well-defined standard electrode potential and is easily reversible in its oxidation and reduction reactions. This makes it a reliable reference point for measuring the electrode potentials of other half-reactions in electrochemical cells.

What element is in center electron post of a battery?

We find carbon or graphite as the center electrode of a zinc-carbon battery. It's the "common" battery we use in lots of stuff (but not an alkaline battery). That center electrode is the positive one, and the zinc makes up the outer or negative electrode in this battery. In an alkaline battery, manganese dioxide is the center, or the cathode (positive electrode). Powdered zinc will be found as the outer or negative electrode (anode).

What are the differences between boilers and burners?

A burner is the part of the boiler that creates and controls the flame that heats the water. If you meant difference between a boiler and a furnace, a boiler makes hot water and a furnace makes hot air.
