The number of protons an atom has is equal to its atomic number. In this case, there are 3 protons, so its atomic number is 3 and this is lithium (Li), the third element on the Periodic Table. Atomic Mass is sum of the number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus. Here, that is 3 and 4, respectively, giving our atom an atomic mass of 7. The number of electrons does not affect either the atomic number or the atomic mass, but instead determines the bonding properties of the atom and whether it has a charge. If the number of electrons is equal to the number of protons, as is the case here, the charge is neutral (0). If there are more electrons than protons, the atom will be negatively charged (5 electrons and 3 protons --> charge = -2), and if there are more protons than electrons, the atom will be positively charged (2 electrons and 3 protons --> charge = +1).

That atom has a relative mass of 7 as both protons and neutrons have a relative atomic mass of 1 and electrons 0. The mass in Kg would be 1.1692733*10^-26

As the mass of an electron is 9.11*10^-31

The mass of neutrons and protons is 1.67*10^-27

The mass number is 5. The mass number is the sum of protons and neutrons in an atomic nucleus. This represents the isotope lithium-5, which actually does not exist. The two isotopes of lithium are lithium-6 (5%) and lithium-7 (95%).

Discount the electrons, as their mass is relatively negligible compared to that of the neutrons and protons. Adding up 3 protons + 4 neutrons gives a mass number of 7.

The mass number is the number of protons (3) + the number of neutrons (2) = 5. This would be lithium less a neutron (???)

How do you determine the number of protons electrons and neutrons present in an element by identifying its atomic and mass numbers from the periodic table?

Atomic number means number of protons present in an atom. Atomic number= number of protons. mass number = number of neutrons+ number of protons. So if you subtract the number of protons you get neutrons and if you subtract neutrons you get protons. mass number - protons= neutrons Mass number - neutrons = protons.

What is the number of protons electrons and neutrons in n-14?

Nitrogen-14: 7 Protons, 7 Electrons, 7 Neutrons To work this out in the future for other elements: Protons = Atomic Number Electrons = Atomic Number Neutrons = Atomic Mass - Atomic Number Hope this helps!

Protons electrons and neutrons in any given atom?

The atomic number of a chemical element is equal to the number of electrons or protons. The number of neutrons = Atomic weight of an isotope (rounded) - atomic number of the element (or the number of protons)

How many protons neutrons and electrons in 40Ca plus 2?

I don't want to do your homework for you. Here's how you figure it out: Protons = atomic number Neutrons = atomic mass - atomic number Electrons = atomic number + ionization

How many protons neutrons and electrons would an atom of neon have?

- The atomic symbol is only an abridged form of the name of a chemical element. - The chemical symbol of neon is Ne; the atomic number is 10. - The atomic number is equal to the number of protons and electrons. - Number of neutrons = Atomic mass of an isotope - Atomic number

How many protons electrons and neutrons in bromine-80?

79? I'm pretty sure the atomic mass of Bromine is 80. Incase you were wrong, the Atomic mass = Number of protons + Neutrons, which is 80. The atomic number is 35, which is the number of protons. Protons = 35. So the No. of Neutrons = 80 ( protons & neutrons) - 35 (protons) = 45 ( No. of neutrons) and Finally for electrons = the number of protons which is 35.
