Depends on the qualities of the vinegar and the papyrus being used.

I tried to prove or disprove this myself, using store-bought vinegar and a single-ply napking instead of papyrus (it's so thin you can see through it).

After the paper had been soaking for 168 hours the writing (simple ballpoint pen) was still legible, although I had to look quite hard.

So for the original question: It might, but I don't think so it would. However, it may worth trying to use stronger (more concentrated) vinegar (I used 20%, the strongest available in our store), and/or use real papyrus (although I doubt it would be more acid-resistant than a common layer of a napkin).
