To find the number of protons, you use the atomic number. The atomic number is always the same number of protons. To find the average number of neutrons, you use the Atomic Mass and take away the number of protons. For example Oxygen has an atomic number of 8 and an atomic mass of 16.01, so since it has an atomic number of 8, it always has 8 protons, and since oxygen has a mass of 16.01, it has an average of 8.01 neutrons (the math: 16.01 mass-8 protons=8.01 neutrons). If your dealing with isotopes, you round the mass number. The mainest isotope is 8 neutrons in oxygen, but there is a few oxygen atoms that have 9 neutrons which is why the average mass is little higher than 16.

How do you find the number of protons electrons of an element?

The atomic number of the element is the number of protons, therefore there has to be the same amount of electrons to protons.

Find the Number of protons neutrons and electrons in xenon?

54 protons, an average of 77 neutrons, and 54 electrons.

How do you find out the amount of electrons in an atom?

The number of electrons in an atom is equal to its atomic number, which is the number of protons in its nucleus. This is because atoms are electrically neutral, so they have an equal number of protons and electrons. You can find the atomic number of an element on the periodic table.

Where do you find electrons in an atom?

circuling the nucleus and the protons

How do find the number of protons?

The number of protons is equal to the number of electrons and the atomic number.

Find the name of the element that has 36 protons and 36 electrons?

Kr has the atomic number of 36. It has similar number of electrons and protons.

How do you find an atomic mass?

It is nothing but the total no of protons and electrons .So it is found by summing the total no protons and electrons present in an atom It is not electrons but the total of neutrons and protons present in the nucleus of any atom.

How do you write the charge of an ion?

find the difference between the number of electrons and protons, and then find whether protons(+) or electrons(-) are more abundant. if the difference was 2, for example, and there were (2) more protons than electrons, the charge would be written as: chemical symbol 2+

How do you find the number of electrons in an atom if you know the number of protons and neutrons?

In a neutral atom, the number of electrons is equal to the number of protons of the nucleus.

Do you have to add the protons and electrons in order to find the atomic mass of an atom?

no, you add the protons and neutrons

How do you find out how many protons and electrons there are in gold?

Gold has 79 protons and 79 electrons. This is because the atomic number of an element corresponds to the number of protons in its nucleus, which is the same as the number of electrons in a neutral atom.
