What color should the flame be on a gas boiler?

Blue

How can incomplete combustion occur in a gas boiler?

Incomplete combustion inevitably occurs when fuel is burned with insufficient oxygen. In the case of gas appliances this can occur if the system for mixing fuel and air is incorrectly set or if the flow of air to the appliance is inadequate.

Why is steam so dangerous?

Because in order to turn water into steam (liquid to gas) it must be heated intensely past the point of boiling, therefore the resulting steam is obviously extremely hot. If you are referring to the danger of a catastrophic pressure vessel failure (boiler explosion) the danger comes from a three-pronged issue. Water under pressure will not boil at 212 degrees (100 C). As the pressure goes up, so does the temperature need to get the water to boil. When a pressure vessel fails, there is the potential for an instantaneous drop in pressure from X pounds per square inches to ZERO psi. But of the water is (for example 350 degrees F) then without the pressure it will flash boil into steam. This is the thery of why locomotive boiler explosions were so deadly. It was common theory that when the firebox's roof sheet failed and the steam in the boiler evacuated into the firebox, the water flsah boiler, instantly raising the pressure to 50 to 100,000psi.

What is the pressure of gas at ATP?

The pressure of gas has nothing to with ATP. However, the pressure of gas at STP, or Standard Temperature Pressure is 0 degrees Celsius and pressure is 1 ATM.

How boiler feed valve works?

There are automatic boiler feeder and manual feeds and depending on the desired working pressure required that would determine the "SET" pressure of the feeder

How do you prevent boiler explosion?

All boilers are made to a pressure specification and in most countries any pressure vessel over a certain size is required to be periodically inspected and pressure tested to ensure it is fit for purpose. In addition to being in sound condition, the boiler is also expected to have some form of pressure relief valve. This is of sufficient size to vent off excess pressure before it gets to an explosive situation. It is obviously important that the pressure of this device is set to a lower level than the ultimate pressure specification of the boiler. Even quite small boilers, like those in coffee makers need to be inspected. Some boilers are 'gas fired' such as home heating boilers. These have a device called a thermocouple that detects the flame and is linked to the gas valve. If the flame goes out, or the burner does not ignite when gas is released in the boiler, it will shut the gas off. Typically gas fired boilers have a number of devices that will shut off the gas in the event that something doesn't work. This means that if the gas supply pipe is in sound condition, the boiler itself cannot leak gas and cause an explosion.

Boiler steam pressure?

What you meant by this question is uncertain. If you are asking about the definition then Boiler steam pressure is the pressure developed by a water steam boiler, else if you are asking about the Rated boiler steam pressure then it is the safe operating pressure a boiler can operate, else if you are asking about Maximum boiler steam pressure then it is the maximum pressure that a boiler can produce with out failure.

How many pounds of pressure does low pressure boiler operate on?

A low pressure boiler is any boiler 15 psi or lower

What is the difference between steam boiler and pressure vessel?

Boiler is basically a pressure vessel in which this boiler aims to heat the surroundings which is a pressure vessel.

Why does gas boiler keep cutting out?

i am no expert - but the reason my boiler cuts out is a fall in the system pressure due to a leaking membrane in the expansion tank. I have to keep the pressure up by adding new water to the system. Bill

What is difference between 500MW boiler 660MW boiler?

500 MW Boiler is sub-critical Boiler which generates steam at pressure lower than the critical pressure ie below 221.2 kg/sqcm. where as the 660 MW boiler is super critical boiler which operates steam pressure above critical pressure.
