Lime can be used to start a fire if it is exposed to water. For example, leave a bag of lime outside in the open air. When it rains, the water coming in contact with the lime is able to cause a reaction that starts a fire.

CaO + H2O -> Ca(OH)2 OR Calcium Oxide + Water = Calcium Hydroxide
