Neither fossil fuels nor nuclear energy can be considered completely clean energy like hydroelectric. The recent nuclear accident in Japan shows that accidents from nuclear power plants can be devastating.

The environmental impact of fossil fuels results when we use them in our cars and power plants. The primary pollutant is carbon dioxide, which is responsible for global warming and acid rain. Some question the conclusions of global warming as related to carbon dioxide but it is a fact that burning fossil fuels causes pollution.

The principal problem with nuclear energy, under normal operations, is the safe disposal of the spent fuel. As more nuclear power plants are built, this becomes a very large and complex problem, as the spent fuel stays radioactive for many years. Transporting it to a safe location, and insuring that it will never leak radioactivity is difficult. I have attached links on the environmental problems with nuclear energy.

A nuclear power plant that is not operating properly with the cooling of the core, runs the risk of radiation leaks, and ultimately if not controlled, a melt-down. You may find extensive discussion on the nuclear power plant accidents in the links I have provided.

There is little environmental impact of nuclear power under normal operations of generating electricity. There are occasional releases of low level radioactivity, and the impact of this radiation in the surrounding areas is generally considered minor. The cooling water does become radioactive, but is contained in a closed loop so it is not under normal operating conditions released to the atmosphere.

I have tried to find links in the internet that are not biased and present the facts about nuclear energy and fossil fuels. See related links.

How is using nuclear energy less harmful to the environment then using fossil fuels?

Nuclear energy emits lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuels, reducing the impact on climate change. Additionally, nuclear waste can be managed and contained more effectively than the air pollution and CO2 emissions from burning fossil fuels. Overall, nuclear energy has a smaller environmental footprint in terms of air pollution and carbon emissions.

Why is nuclear energy not a fossil fuel what is it?

Nuclear energy is not a fossil fuel because it doesn't involve the combustion of organic matter like coal, oil, and natural gas. Instead, nuclear energy is generated through the process of nuclear fission, where atoms are split to release energy. This makes nuclear energy a low-carbon alternative to fossil fuels.

Do fossil fuels have a higher or lower energy content than a similar mass of nuclear fuel?

Total energy as expressed in Einsteins equation E=mc2 reveals that they are identical because the masses are identical and c is a constant. With present technology you can extract more energy from a given mass of nuclear fuels (in a nuclear reactor) than the same mass of fossil fuel in a thermoelectric generating plant.

What is the definition of release energy and how does it impact the environment?

The term "release energy" refers to the process of converting stored energy into a usable form, such as heat or electricity. When energy is released, it can have both positive and negative impacts on the environment. For example, burning fossil fuels releases energy but also produces harmful emissions that contribute to air pollution and climate change. On the other hand, renewable energy sources like solar and wind power release energy without producing harmful emissions, making them more environmentally friendly options.

Fossil fuels form from nuclear chain reactions?

Fossil fuels do not form from nuclear chain reactions. Fossil fuels are formed from the decay of organic matter over millions of years in the Earth's crust. Nuclear chain reactions refer to the process of nuclear fission in which atomic nuclei split, releasing energy.

Nuclear power stations pollute the nature?

yes. they are one of the major source of air pollution. they burn a lot of fossil fuel that is harmful to the environment.

Is nuclear energy a fossil feul?

no

Is fossil fuel nuclear energy?

No because fossil fuel is its own energy from decayed things just like nuclear has its own.

Is nuclear a fuel or a fossil fuel?

Nuclear energy is not a fossil fuel or any fuel at all. Radiation is used to create energy. The energy is "the Fuel" petroleum

Is the use of nuclear energy to conserve energy feasible?

If you use nuclear energy in place of fossil fuels, you are conserving the fossil fuel, that is reducing the amount you use.

Does fossil fuels get its energy from nuclear fusion?

no

How does nuclear energy conserve fossil fuels?

Nuclear energy does not rely on burning fossil fuels to generate electricity, which helps reduce the consumption of these limited resources. By using nuclear power as a clean alternative, we can preserve fossil fuels for other important uses such as transportation and heating.

What ways do you make electricity that are bad for the earth?

Using NON RENEWABLE RESOURCES like Fossil Fuels, Petroleum Products & NUCLEAR Energy are methods that are harmful for Environment on EARTH and their usage should be reduced by generating Elelctricity through Renewable resources.
