This depends which shell it is up to. Helium has a full shell and it only has 2 electrons. Neon then, still with a full outer shell has 8 on the full outer shell with 2 inside those 8.

This keeps changing as you go up. I do believe the amount of electrons on the outer shell goes 2, 8, 8, 18, 18, 32. Those apply to the stable elements (in order) Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton, Xenon and Radon.

Those numbers apply to the outside shell, please note all the shells below that outside one still exist and are still full.

How many valence electrons will make an element happy or stable?

Most elements are stable with a full outer shell of electrons, typically with 8 electrons known as the octet rule. However, elements in the first shell can be stable with 2 electrons. This full outer shell results in a stable configuration similar to the noble gases, making the element happy or stable.

How many electrons are required in the outermost shell of an element for it to be safe?

8 to make it stable and least reactive.

How many valence electrons will make an element stable?

The number depends on what will fill the outer shell. It can be 2 or 8.

How many electrons does an atom need in its outer shell to be stable?

How many electrons of the most stable have in there outer energy level?

The most stable atoms/ions have 8 electrons in their outermost shell.

How many valence electrons will make an element chemically stable?

The number depends on what will fill the outer shell. It can be 2 or 8.

How many electrons does Xenon have in its outer electron shell?

Xenon has 8 electrons in its outermost electron shell, making it a stable noble gas.

How many electrons are in the outer shell of strontium ion?

Strontium ion has 0 electrons in its outer shell because it has lost two electrons to become stable. In its neutral state, strontium (Sr) has 2 electrons in its outer shell.

How Many unpaired electrons does Barium?

Barium has 0 unpaired electrons. It has a full outer shell of electrons, which is why it is a stable element.

How many more electrons does silicon need to fill its outer shell?

silicon's atomic number is 14 so, its electron configuration is 2.8.4, the third shell needs 4 more electrons to make it 8 and to become stable. ---> so the answer is 4.

When is an atom most stable?

Answer When the outermost shell(valence shell) is filled the atom is to be most stable. First Shell: holds up to 2 electrons Second Shell: holds up to 8 electrons Third Shell: holds up to 18 electrons Fourth Shell: holds up to 32 electrons
