The Carbon contributes 4 valance electrons and each oxygen contributes 6 valance electrons for a total of 16. Start by putting the Carbon in the middle of the two Oxygens. Each oxygen will have a double bond connecting it to the C in the middle. The left over valance electrons will be put on the oxygens. For drawing purposes you could put two dots on the top and two dots on the bottom of each oxygen. Since I can't draw it out for you here it will look roughly like this:

::O=C=O::

The only difference is that instead of having the four dots together on the Oxygens, like I said above, you would put two dots on the top and two dots on the bottom of each Oxygen. If you count the dots and bonds, each element has the 8 valance electrons that it wants and you have used all 16 that you needed to.

How would you draw an electron cross structure for ethene?

To draw the electron cross structure for ethene, you would first place the carbon atoms in the middle of the diagram. Each carbon atom will have two valence electrons. Then, you would add the four valence electrons from the two hydrogen atoms to each carbon atom. Finally, share a pair of electrons between the two carbon atoms to represent the double bond.

How many dots should you draw in the Lewis structure for carbon C?

im almost positive that you would use 10 electrons. carbon has 4 valence electrons but since you have to that makes eight, and then of course the 1 valence for each of the hydrogen atoms, 2, so that gives you ten

How do you draw an atomic structure of a diamond?

How to draw the structure is hard to do over text. However, I will explain the structure to you the best that I can. Diamonds are made up exclusively of carbon atoms. Each carbon atom shares an electron with 4 other carbon atoms forming 4 single bonds and each of those 4 carbons share 3 electrons with 3 carbons this continues in a 3D plane where the diamond is to the size that you require. they are hard to draw accurately with out a program to assist you, the program allows you to see the structure in space to see what carbons are likely to bind to already drawn carbons. There are tutorials readily available that take you through the structure step by step.

What is the Lewis dot structure for an carbon?

CO2 . .___. . O::C::O . .___. . This is the Lewis Dot Structure for carbon dioxide. Both oxygens have 6e-, and carbon has 4. Each oxygen in this has two lone pairs and has a double connection with the carbon. This gives both oxygens and the carbon sets of 8 (Rule of Octets). Double-check by calculating the formal charges; they all come out to 0.

Draw and explain the oxygen carbon dioxide cycle?

If you google "diagram oxygen-carbon dioxide cycle", from the image search, you'll see tons of diagrams. I tried to post one, in response to your question, but some rude person deleted it without any explanation.

How do you draw the electron configuration for carbon is it 1s2 2s2 2p2?

The electron configuration for carbon is 1s2 2s2 2p2. Carbon has 6 electrons, with 2 in the 1s orbital, 2 in the 2s orbital, and 2 in the 2p orbital (1 electron each in 2p_x and 2p_y).

Where does the carbon come from that plants use to produce carbon dioxide?

The carbon in plants come from the carbon found in carbon dioxide (CO2). As plants undergo photosynthesis they draw in water through their roots and carbon dioxide from the air through specialized structures called stomates. So the inorganic carbon in carbon dioxide becomes organic carbon making up the oils, carbohydrates and proteins found in plants.

How many electron must be shown for the lewi dot structure of formaldehyde?

The answer is 12. If you draw the lewis dot structure for formaldehyde, you have to remember to draw the non-bonding pairs on the oxygen atom, and when you count all the electrons, remember that the lines used to represent bonds are counted as 2.

How many electrons shared between carbon and oxygen atom in carbon dioxide?

Two electrons 'at one side' of carbon are shared with 2 electrons of one oxygen atom, forming a double bond (each bond is formed one pair of electrons), at the other side the same is happening to the other two 'carbon' electrons with the second O atom. Usually each pair of electrons is drawn by a short line (horizontally, sometimes also vertically) to draw the molecular bonding structure: For carbon dioxide O=C=O or in dots (one for each electron) O::C::O

What attracts mosquitoes carbon dioxide light or color?

Mosquitoes are primarily attracted to carbon dioxide, body heat, and body odor. They are also attracted to dark colors and certain wavelengths of light, like UV light. However, carbon dioxide is one of the most important factors that draw mosquitoes to their hosts.

How the dolphins breathe?

Dolphins breathe through the 'blow hole' in the top of their heads, surfacing from underwater to blow out the Carbon Dioxide and draw in oxygen.
