I don't think this is true.
While there is 8.1% of aluminum and only 5% iron in the earth's CRUST, most of the iron "in the earth" is to be found in the earth's CORE.
The whole earth proportions are aluminum 1.1% and iron 35%

∙ 12y agoIron is far easier to extract and refine than aluminum. Iron you can get by basically chucking some ore into a jolly good bonfire, but aluminum takes a lot more.
