What make food taste sour?

Food tastes sour when it contains high amounts of acids, such as citric acid or acetic acid. These acids stimulate taste receptors on our tongue that are sensitive to sour flavors, sending signals to our brain that we perceive as sourness. Examples of sour foods include lemons, vinegar, and certain dairy products like yogurt.

Why can you taste sour on sour but not sour on salty?

Well, the whole thing is very complicated. The asorbic acid in sour, compliments the falic acid in other sour foods. It may seem more sour to you if you taste sour on sour, but it is just your taste buds reacting to two different chemicals. Both chemicals combined make it very easy to be tasted, and sometimes disliked. When you taste sour on salty it's harder to taste. One ingredient in salt, called cottonseed extract, mainly counteracts most asorbic and falic acids. So, in most salty foods it's harder to taste sour things.

What do acids taste like?

sour. They are sour usually. And bases are bitter.bitter/sour

Why do acids taste sour and bases taste bitter?

Acids taste sour because they release hydrogen ions (H+) when dissolved in water, which stimulate sour taste receptors on the tongue. Bases taste bitter because they release hydroxide ions (OH-) when dissolved in water, which activate bitter taste receptors. These taste sensations are the body's way of detecting and reacting to different chemicals.
