Well, liquid soap contains water, and water Oxidizes Iron, so that definitely is a main chemical process. There may be other chemicals as well. Anything that will form an Oxidizing reaction with Iron will cause it to "Rust". So, other components will depend on the chemistry of the Soap. Most soap products contain amounts of Sodium Hydroxide...that would react to Oxidize Iron.
