Crude oil is a liquid formed by dead plankton and by immense pressure and heat and is made up of hydrocarbons while coal is a solid formed of dead plant matter which is then squashed up into what's called peat and then layers of rock squash the water out of the peat and it then makes coal. They both take thousands of years to form and are therefore a fossil fuel. :) I just learnt this in year ten chem hope it explains it enough :)

Is coal made out of crude oil?

No, coal is not made out of crude oil. Coal is a solid fossil fuel that is formed from the remains of plants that lived millions of years ago, while crude oil is a liquid fossil fuel formed from the remains of marine plants and animals.

Can crude oil be found in coal?

No, crude oil is typically found in porous rock formations while coal forms from the compression of plant material over millions of years. The two resources have different origins and compositions, so crude oil is not found within coal deposits.

What is the difference between oil and crude oil?

Oil is a general term that refers to any liquid that is not soluble in water. Crude oil, on the other hand, specifically refers to the unrefined petroleum that is extracted from the ground.

What does crude oil and coal formation have in common?

Crude oil and coal both originate from the remains of plants and animals that lived millions of years ago. They undergo a process where the organic matter decomposes and gets compressed over time. Additionally, both crude oil and coal are fossil fuels that are extracted from the Earth for energy production.

What is the difference between heavy crude oil and light crude oil?

Heavy crude oil has a higher density and viscosity compared to light crude oil. Heavy crude oil also contains more impurities like sulfur and metals, which makes it more difficult and expensive to refine. Light crude oil is easier to extract, transport, and refine, making it more valuable in the market.

What is the difference between gasoline and crude oil?

Gasoline is a refined product derived from crude oil. Crude oil is a natural resource extracted from the ground, while gasoline is a processed fuel used in vehicles. The main difference is that crude oil is the raw material, while gasoline is the end product after refining crude oil.

Why is crude oil and gas preferred to coal?

because crude oil and gas are cleaner to burn

Crude oil.

What is the difference between crude oil and motor oil?

Crude oil is the oil from the well. Motor oil has been processed. The motor oil must have certain properties, such as viscosity and density, and it can not contain any contaminants, such as sulfur. Crude oil is unrefined oil, and it has a wide range of viscosities and densities, and may contain contaminants.
