The Lewis dot structure starts with two singly bonded C atoms. On the left hand side C are three singly bonded H atoms. On the right C, there is a doubly bonded O atom to the top and a singly bonded O atom to the right. The upper O has two pairs of dots and the right has three pairs of dots.

The dot structure for acetate starts with one C atom in the center. At the north, south and west are singly bonded H atoms. To the east is a singly bonded C that has one doubly bonded O atom and one singly bonded O atom. The doubly bonded O has two dot pairs and the singly bonded O has three dot pairs. The entire structure is then bracketed and noted with a 1- superscript.

Neither of these two are correct. However, this is the most accurate depiction we can draw. Structures like this are
said to have resonance. The two structures are drawn with
an arrow between them to show that either are possible.
the first C should be attach by two H and the rest of the bone (which mean 2) attact to the second C, second C attach by one H, one O, and two bone with C the first O attatch by C and the other O the second O attatch by O and have the + charge
