NiBr2 • 3 H2O is Nickel(II) bromide trihydrate. It's actually simple to find out since it's a metal-nonmetal compound (something left of the jagged black line with something on the right side).

1) For this type of compound, you begin by just saying the name of the metal. Ni is nickel, but it's also got something irregular to it. Nickel can have multiple charges, so you use the 2 on the bromide times the charge of bromide (it's one left of the noble gasses, so 1-). To balance, the charge of nickel is 2+. You place the charge name to the right of the metal name in parentheses, no spaces.

2) This part's easier. Take the name of the nonmetal (Br) and change the ending to -ide. Bromine becomes bromide

3) The •3 H2O at the end means it's a hydrate. Simply put, you have water in the salt as well, but it's not bound to the other atoms. So, you take the number of H2O molecules (3) in the old Greek system (tri-) and the word hydrate, and put them together.
