The repeating unit of kevlar is made up from two monomers.

Benzene-1,4 dicarboxylic acid (A benzene ring with a COOH group on either end) and

1,4 - diaminobenzene (A benzene ring with an NH2 group on either end)

When reacted in a condensation reaction, they form the repeating unit of kevlar;

-CO-(Benzene)-CO-NH-(Benzene)-NH-

With the oxygen molecules double bonded to the carbons.

This then repeats over and over to create Kevlar.
