A torr is a unit of measurement for pressure. The unit is named after an Italian scientist named Evangelista Torricelli (1608-1647) who was a student of Galileo and invented the barometer.

1 torr = 1mm Hg (one millimeter Mercury)

760 torr = 1 ATM (atmospheres)

760 torr = 14.7 lb/in^2

What units is measured in?

A vacuum's quality is indicated by how little material is within it. The quality is usually measured in gas pressure (as torrs). A torr is a historical unit, although still used for vacuum quality. The Si unit is the Pascal.

Bypass torrs system on 1996 Yamaha venture snowmobile?

All u need to do is take the two wires that come off the top of carbs and connect them into each other on each end . so the two that run to the carbs are connected to each other and the two that go back to the handlebars are connected to each other these two must b plugged in for the sled to run. however the tors light is an overide safety switch so if ur throttle ever sticks hangon lol

What units are used to express pressure measurements?

The most common units for expressing pressure measurements are pascals (Pa), bars (bar), and pounds per square inch (psi). Other units such as atmospheres (atm) and millimeters of mercury (mmHg) are also used in specific applications.

Is pressure a scalar quantity justify with an example?

Yup! We know that the scalar quantity is a quantity which is having magnitude but not having "DIRECTION" pressure is a scalar quantity for the reason that it's not having any direction Means it is directionless...... Have you ever heard saying anyone that the pressure applied was 730 torrs in west , east or north south direction?????????> No, it is IMPOSSIBLe.....

How many torrs are in 1 ATM of pressure?

Torr is the same thing as mmHg its just another name for it so 760 Torr is = to 1 atm ^THAT'S WRONG!!!!!!! http://www.anver.com/document/company/Reference%20Guides/pressure.htm No, it's correct. I didn't even bother looking at the source and if the source says otherwise, try finding a more credible source next time.

What do aneroid barometers use for the unit of measure?

There are a lot of possible units. Many TV stations report pressure in inches of mercury, where standard sea level pressure = 29.92 inHg. You can also use millimeters of mercury, which is a simple conversion from inches of mercury (1 inch is about 25.4 mm). Atmospheric scientists usually use hectoPascals (hPa) or millibars (mb), which are the same numerically. Standard sea level pressure is 1013.25 hPa, or 1013.25 mb. 1 hectoPascal is equal to 100 Pascals, while 1 millibar is one-thousandth of a bar. A couple of less common units are Torrs, where sea level pressure is 760 Torr, or atmospheres, where standard sea level pressure = 1 atmosphere.
