The mass of atoms is generally measured in amu (Atomic Mass units), where 1 amu = 1/12th the mass of an atom of carbon-12. The mass of subatomic particles may also be expressed in amu, or sometimes as the energy equivalent in eV (electron volts). Usually MeV or GeV are required to specify mass... an electron volt is a tiny amount of energy.
