What is a single replacement reaction?

A single replacement reaction occurs when two different cations switch places to combine with the same anion. One element forms a compound while another element is released from the compound. In a single replacement reaction, or single displacement reaction, a single uncombined element replaces another in a compound. Two reactants yield two products. For example when zinc combines with hydrochloric acid, the zinc replaces hydrogen.Replacement ReactionsA+BC=B+ACFor instance, if magnesium is dropped into a solution of Copper (II) Nitrate, the magnesium will react because it is more active (in other words wants to bond more than the copper does). If by chance you drop Copper into Potassium Acetate, you will find that no reaction will occur.Reactivity of Metals (from most reactive to least)LithiumBariumPotassiumCalciumSodiumMagnesiumAluminumZincChromiumIronNickelTinLeadHydrogenCopperMercurySilverPlatinumGold1. Alkali metals will always replace hydrogen in cold water2. Magnesium to iron on the chart will always replace hydrogen in steam3. Mercury doesn't react with much of anything4. Metals higher than Hydrogen will always replace it in an acid (Nitric acid, drop zinc (II) in it, and you will receive H2 + ZnCl2)

Why do porcupines like to eat salt?

Porcupines are vegetarian animals and do not receive enough potassium through their regular diet. They look for additional sources of salt to maintain proper levels of potassium in their blood cells.

Is magnesium sulfate conductive in water?

magnesium has a charge of +2, meaning that it is ready to receive two more electrons. however when it says conductive there, metal should be able to give out the electrons but in this case magnesium would be taking in the electrons. so, magnesium is not conductive.

When potassium and fluorine bind what one will be the positive ion and which one will be the negative ion?

Potassium will be the the positive ion, and fluorine will be the negative ion because the potassium atom will give one electron to fluorine for they can both be stable. Fluorine will receive one electron from potassium and it will be stable because it has now 8 valence electrons. Giving is positive and receiving is negative. Hope this helps.

Will my boyfriend come out of it after taking too much Potassium and he has a bad liver?

Potassium is more apt to affect the heart. Potassium (K+) controls how the heart beats, and how strongly, among other things. If he passed out, it was likely due to the effect of Potassium on his heart. Excess potassium can kill because it puts the heart into an unnatural rhythm. The hospital should have initiated life-saving measures if they were told about the overdose. Also, he should receive psychological counseling as soon as possible as this should certainly be considered a suicide attempt. It's been over 15 days--I hope he is doing better now.
