∙ 13y agoMost metals corrode, but if the metal is iron or steel the corrosion is called rusting. Iron can be galvanised to prevent rusting. Steel is an alloy produced from iron.
Iron is used when a strong, relatively cheap metal is required like when building railway lines, car bodies, bolts, nails, bridges and pipes.
