Not really. There are three basic kinds of gasoline. The first is "generic gas." If you're John Smith who owns one convenience store and you want to sell gas, you call the local oil company and order some gasoline. It comes out, you sell it, everyone's happy. The second is "private label gas." You're 7-eleven, Circle K, whoever, and you want your own brand of fuel that can only be sold at your stores. "SupaGas with SupaKleen keeps engines running right. Only at SupaMart!" You set up a deal with one of the big oil additives companies to make a special additive blend for SupaGas. You then set up contracts with different oil companies across America; when SupaGas in Tulsa needs a load of gas it might get it from an Exxon distributor, but SupaGas in Dayton, OH, might get theirs from a Texaco distributor. Basically, whoever's cheapest in that area. The third is "name brand gas." This is what you find at a Texaco station. Now here's the thing: Private label gas is usually cheaper than name brand gas. but if there's a shortage for some reason it'll be harder to get because the name brand stations get their orders before the private label ones.
