Baby Boomer Generation Taking Center Stage in Upcoming Budget Battles?

As a result of a decade of war and economic struggles the United States will be facing some tough financial decisions in the coming years. The Baby Boomer Generation, heralded as one of the country's most significant population groups, is likely to find itself at the center of looming budget battles that face Democratic and Republican politicians in the coming months. The U.S. government recently dodged a devastating government shutdown as President Obama and legislators battled to the last minute to hash out a new government budget deal to fund the government through October. Now a larger battle looms for lawmakers and the President as they face the task of setting forth a budget for fiscal year 2012 which begins in October. Analysts and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle agree that the government must raise its debt limit from its current $14.294 trillion limit, but that is where the agreement ends. This is also potentially where the Baby Boomer generation takes center stage as some lawmakers aim to drastically change the way this generation receives certain government benefits. The Republican budget plan calls for the government to make cuts of $4.4 trillion in federal deficits over the next decade to reduce the nation's debt. The majority of these cuts are expected to come from Medicare and Medicaid, a move that would drastically affect the Baby Boomer generation. Medicare in particular is viewed by many as one of the biggest threats to the future stability of the U.S. government financially. The plan, which provides senior citizens with affordable health care, is costing the U.S. more and more each year as the Baby Boomer generation begins to enter retirement and draw upon their Medicare benefits. The changes proposed in the Republican budget plan would require members of the Baby Boomer generation to choose a health plan from a list of private providers that would be subsidized by the government. The Baby Boomer generation has backers though with Democrats and President Obama saying they will not allow any deal to pass that includes cuts to government benefits, especially Medicare. The President's budget plan calls for deficit cuts in the amount of $4 trillion over the next 12 years and includes no changes to Medicare or any other benefits for members of the Baby Boomer generation.

Will there be a pokemon Generation VI?

As of yet (July 31, 2011) there has been no confirmation or announcement of Game Freak developing a sixth generation of Pokemon. However, because of the franchise's global success and popularity, another generation seems likely. If following the pattern of the previous two generations, (hypothetically) Generation VI should start sometime in late 2014 - 2015.
