Remember that both these metals are amphoteric, they can react both with bases as well as with acids. Therefore, under baisc (NH4OH = NH3 + H2O) conditions you initially would pptate the hydroxides (Al(OH)3 or Zn(OH)2) but if the medium is very basic these hydroxides will dissolve and form anions containing the metal, aluminate [ (Al(OH)4 ]- and / or zincate [ Zn(OH)4 ]=. If you add H2S your Zn2+ ions end up pptating as ZnS, quite insoluble salt.

Is nh3 and nh4cl a buffer?

this is buffer system consisted of a weak base and its conjugated base. NH4OH is the weak acid and the NH4Cl is the conjugated base. when an acid or a base is added in small amount the change of the pH of this solution is neglegible hence we tells that this shows a resistivity when adding an acid or a base .when an acid is added OH ions reacts and form H2O and NH4OH dissociates and give the OH ions to the solution .When an base is added NH+ ions react with OH ions added and form NH4OH which dissociates weakly to NH+ ions and OH- ions .

What is the balance equation for heating NH4Cl with KOH?

NH4Cl + KOH becomes KCl + NH4OH which latter in essence is ammonia and water. The ammonia escapes from the mixture as a gas.

What is the chemical name for the salt which comes from a mixture of hydrochloride and ammonia water?

The chemical name for the salt which comes from a mixture of hydrochloride and ammonia water is ammonium chloride.Ammonia (NH3) reacts with water to form ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH), and when reacted with hydrochloric acid, the Cl- anion dispaces the OH- to give us the ammonium chloride (NH4Cl), while the displaced hydroxide and the H+ of the HCl get together to form a water molecule.NH3 + H2O ---> NH4OH, and NH4OH + HCl ---> NH4Cl + H2OSince a water molecule is a reactant and a product, we can ignore it and the reaction becomes:NH3 + HCl ---> NH4Cl

What is the dissociation equation for NH4Cl?

Usually, ammonia in water solution is presented as NH3.H2O (sometimes NH4OH which is rather incorrect) then NH3.H2O + HCl = NH4Cl + H2O but also this reaction is correct NH3 + HCl = NH4Cl

What happens when you add more NH4Cl to Magnesium hydroxide?

When you add more NH4Cl to magnesium hydroxide, the ammonium chloride will dissociate into NH4+ and Cl- ions in the solution. The NH4+ ions can react with the hydroxide ions from magnesium hydroxide to form ammonia gas and water. The excess ammonia gas will escape as it is a volatile compound.
