More simply, normal (0.9%) saline contains the same concentration of salt as your body fluids. For this reason, it is the most commonly used saline solution, for IV'sor other uses such as flushing wounds, eye baths, etc.

"Normal" silane is referred as 0.9% ( 1% commonly. As in "get me some 1%, stat!) NaCl in water, but that's based only on Hartog Jakob Hamburger's 1882 study of red cell lysis. The correct concentration of salt in the human blood is 0.6%. Still, it's easier to say "1% solution" because it's easy to remember.

NaCl in IV bags is 0.9 percent because that is approximately equivalent to 0.154 M NaCl which is the extracellular concentration of NaCl in the human body and bodily fluids. One wants to keep the NaCl in the IV isotonic with the body.

The osmolarity of this liquid approximates that of the NaCl in blood. Please see the link.

What is the relationship between the percentage change in mass and sucrose molarity?

Change in mass depends on the concentration of sucrose within the dialysis bags. If the concentration of sucrose is greater inside the bag than outside, then water will move into the bag. If the concentration of sucrose is lower inside the bag than outside, then water will move out of the bag.

Besides shoes and normal clothing what will you find in over 50 percent of the closets in North America?

hand bags

Why do we calculate percent change in mass of the dialysis bags rather than use the change in mass directly?

Uh I think Mrs. Durso made a mistake on this question. We didn't do the osmosis experiment on the dialysis bags. We did it on the potatos remember?

In which direction would osmosis occur if 15 percent sugar solution is separated from a 25 percent sugar solution?

It would flow toward the weaker solution. The intent of osmosis is to gain equilibrium, so the 15 percent solution would gain sugar content until, if you allowed the osmosis to go to completion, the two solutions had the same amount of sugar in them. "Going to completion" doesn't necessarily mean 20 percent concentration on both sides. If you were to make a gallon bag out of dialysis membrane, fill it with 15 percent solution and put a stirrer in it, then drop it into a 25,000-gallon reaction vessel full of 25 percent solution with a stirrer in it, you might wind up with 24.9999999999 percent sugar solution in both bags.

What solution is used for rehydration?

A basic IV rehydration solution consists of sterile water with small amounts of sodium chloride (NaCl; salt) and dextrose (sugar) added. It is supplied in bottles or thick plastic bags that can hang on a pole or rolling stand.

How do you calculate drps perminute of IV drugs?

The infusion rate is based on the needs of individual patients, the concentration of the solution, and the intent of use. Some drugs are injected into liter (or larger, smaller bags) of saline, dextrose solutions etc. and the rate is controlled by experience and ongoing evaluation of the patient not only for the drug but for the hydration of the patient. If this question was asked with a more specific drug in mind it would be helpful. Also, so many IV drugs are infused through the catheter and bypass the dilution process and are given as a bolus "shot".
