My guess would be because a 2 ply paper towel has two layers instead of one.
It would be a trivial experiment, if you're really interested. I'm not, so I've never done it, but I would not expect them to be the same.
ok they grow so much better in paper towels if you plant them in soil you could put too much water in and they dont even grow they get squishy and moldy if youput them in a wet paper towel then its better! i did this for my experiment and th wet paper towel thingy grew better! hope this rlly helped!

Kleenex Viva may not be thicker but it is much softer and absorbed most of all the water. Sparkle was the left behind the most water. Also it I'll give u the steps: 1. You must at least have a measuring cup and cups. 2. Fill the measuring cup to the desired amount. Make sure that it the amount of water is not too much so that it is common sense that the paper towel will not absorb all of it. 3. Then put the amount of water each time in the cups. 4: Scrunch up the papertowels and put each brand in a different cup. 5. Take them out. Now take the measuring cup and put the leftover water in the measuring cup. Remember put the water leftover in the cup not at the same time out one after another. Mark the points where the water is. Then youll find out the most absorbent paper towel. SEE I TOLD U IT WAS EASY!!!!!!!!
