  1. The queen's name should reflect her nationality. It bothers me when I heard the name of a king or queen that is from a different nationality then the one they rule. Elizabeth, Constantine, George, James, Mary, John, Peter, Catherine, etc.
  2. The name should reflect some noble characteristic maybe even a bit aggressive sounding. Victoria, Arthur, Ivan, Temujin, Attila, Temunson, etc.
  3. The title of the monarch should also be from the nation that they rule. I was disappoint to find that Kaiser and Czar are derived from Caesar. King and Queen are alright but I find them over done. This is probably as I am from an English back-ground. I am aware that there are different words for king and queen in different languages. King John is Blasé. Genghis Khan is cool in the extreme.
  4. If you are going to use an epithet then try to find something unique. The epithet 'the great' is severely over-used while 'scourge of God' is and remains magnificent.
  5. Where appropriate a name change is a good idea. If a princess named Virginia (Virgin) become queen of a nation in war she would do well to call herself Victoria (she who is victorious). It just makes sense.

So

  1. pick a nation.
  2. pick an appropriate characteristic.
  3. derive a title
  4. apply an appropriate epithet after some noteworthy accomplishment.
  5. change it to fit the situation.
