The climax of The Pigman is when Mr. Pignati arrives home and discovers Lorraine and John have thrown a huge party in his house and his things are damaged. He feels betrayed by his friends.

When Lorraine and John tell the truth to Mr. Pignati that they aren't the charity worker, then the response of Mr. Pignati and how John and Lorraine feels. It is because it would be really surprise of telling the truth.

In the beginning John does not care about Mr. Pignati. As the book goes on John develops a strong relationship and loving for Mr. Pignati, more than Mr. Pignati even knew. You could tell this from how devistated John was about Mr. Pignatis death.
