If he sees blood or smells it he goes a little wacko.

It is about a teenage boy who is a half vampire, half human. His parents died in a fire "accident". He now lives with his Aunt Nelly, who supplies him with blood from the hospital she works at. He goes to school and lives a normal life. Though in the books bad things start to happen. He meets his uncle, Otis Otis, in this book (Otis was his dad's brother. His creator was also Vlad's dad's creator...). I have read the two books in the series so far three times. It is a great read. So go to your school or public library and check it out.
The books are about a half vampire half human trying surviving high school.

For the most part the series takes place in Bathory (a city) Vlad attends Bathory high from the 2nd book threw the 5th book, or so i would assume he is still at Bathory. on occasion it takes place in Siberia, Russia and a place called stockerton, where the elysian council is. i believe I've hit the main places, if I've left something out, edit this.
