She dies when Trout Walker finds Kate Barlow in the lake bed and he and his wife try to force her to tell them where she hid the treasure. A yellow-spotted lizard jumps out at her and bites her on the ankle, Kate Barlow died laughing.
Kate Barlow did not kill Stanley's great-grandfather, Elia Yelnats, because she recognized him as a good man who had treated her kindly. Despite her circumstances and the injustices she faced, she chose to spare his life, demonstrating her underlying morality. This decision ultimately influenced the fate of the Yelnats family and their connection to the cursed treasure.
In my personal opinion after getting revenge on those who killed Sam, and years on the road as an outlaw the grief and emptiness of having her vengenance enacted on those responsible she was just finally empty and felt nothing anymore, so let Stanley Yelnats the 1st, live.
No kissin' Kate Barlow is perfectly fine. Even though MURDER is a sin it was against something that she could not hold with in her anger. She would let out her anger upon every guy she met. She would kill and kiss. Killing and kissin' was her little thing to help her remember that she kissed Sam and she never wanted to forget that moment. She was angry at the chief for saying that she was kissed by a black man but in return she said"i kissed him back" she remembers that and says the next day to the chief :do you still want that kiss" the shot him and kissed him.
no definitely not!
