NO! In short, architects make pretty drawings of buildings, whereas civil engineers do the dirty work of making the building work (ie. determining which materials are used; creating blueprints of where water, sewage, electrical, etc. lines run through a building; calculating stress/strain in joints throughout the building to ensure it will hold; take soil samples to determine how the ground must be treated before construction begins; and MUCH more!). This is only one aspect of civil engineering, other areas include: designing highways, water treatment, construction of dams, levees, etc., and the construction of bridges. So sum it all up: Architecture is all art. Civil Engineering is a cross between physics, geology, mathematics, and just a little bit of art.

This is an addition to the previous...as an Architectural Engineer (and licensed PE), you need to give more credit to Architects. They are typically well versed in making a building "work". They'll usually know approximate dimensions for beam and column sizing, and other engineering minimal requirements...but no, they are not Engineers. Engineers are typically more math/science oriented.

Is mining engineering the same as civil engineering?

No..Mining Engineering is far diferent from Civil Engineering. Both are fields of engineering but the area is totally different. Mining Engineering relates to thhe mines and the technology required to explore the mines, whereas Civil Engineering relates to creating engineering structures for roads, transportation, bridges, railways, marinas etc.

What are subjects included in civil engineering?

Civil Engineering has its great contribution all over the world with innovative and developed structures. Without Civil Engineering, our civilization would have not been possible. Large Civil Engineering giants like Moffatt & Nichol have contributed great services towards many important projects in the field of Civil Engineering and growing rapidly with more upcoming structures.

What is moment of inertia and its importance in civil engineering?

The moment of inertia (writen I, with an indice indicating the axis in which it is expressed) mesures the opposition any kind of body will have against a certain momentum (along that same axis) trying to rotate that body

How much does a civil engineer make with an associate's degree?

I hold a Associates degree in Civil EngineeringTechnology & basically they make the following: (It also greatly depends what field you are in)Civil Engineer Technician: $36-48,000 per year, depending on area, location, cpabilities, duties, etc. normal pay is baout $18-24 per hrConstruction Estimator: $40-80,000 per year, depends on years background, age, duties, company etc., normal pay for an estimator is about $25 per hour then you can see up to $40 per hourProject Manager: $50-100,000 per year, dends on same as above, this is what I do, normal pay is $25-50 dollars an hour, varies for what field you work in alot. For example;- If you work in commercial roadway managing or paving crews you tend to make previaling State Wage or equilivent (roughly 50K per yr)- If you work in commercial civil engineering for municipal, state, federal or DOT apprentices programs or under the wing or a P.E., you tend to make less, roughly 40K per yr- If your self-employed and do any of the above, you can make millions per year if you run it right, hard in this day to get started but my advise to anyone holding this degree is to stick with construction, not civl engineering. A P.E. is the only one who really gets anyowhere with that degree and if you only have an associates, its not much in that field, but its alot in construction, enough to get your foot in the door at least and then the rest is up to you.....play your cards right and you could see 100K

Meaning of water level in civil engineering?

Water level is flat on sea according to civil engineering because water level is same on two point of a flat road. Building top or two point of a wall is flat because water level is same. A top of a building is known as flat if water level is same from all of its side. Water level can be checked by means of two sides of a transparent nylon tube or hose also in civil engineering by putting water inside it as per the length of tube or hose and both the sides had to be raised at the two points where it has to be checked. The level depends on gravitational force on earth from the center of the earth. So surface of road is known as flat. Even table or bed is known as flat. But surface of earth is known as round from outside the gravitational zone of earth from the space, not from earth. From the surface of earth earth is flat because water level is same. From the surface of sea sea is flat because water level of sea level is same. The concept is from sea level as per physics. So it is known for altitude for a location on earth means height above sea level. For example altitude of NEW YORK CITY is 33 feet above sea level.

Can you do both civil engineering and architecture at the same time in college?

Even if you were allowed to do so by means of a double major, both are intensive programs of study with the degree in architecture being a five year bachelor's degree. You would be putting yourself at academic risk.

What is a Bachelor of Science in mechanical Engineering compared to Degree in Mechanical Engineering?

It's the same thing. If you have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, you have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Where did harmon northrop Morse go to school?

Harmon Northrop Morse attended the University of Michigan, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1898. He later went on to obtain a Master’s degree from the same institution. Morse was known for his contributions to the field of engineering and education, particularly in the areas of civil engineering and engineering education.

Get a job with an associate's degree in engineering?

Didn't even know these were offered, but if they do, you would be performing the same functions as someone with a technician's degree, in which case the Bachelor of Technology degree will take preference over the associate of engineering.

Can you suggest a correspondence course and a good institute for the same in architecture?

Harvard Graduate School of Design is a good learning institution to learn a degree program in Architecture.

Which college major is the hardest?

Chemical Engineering. It encompasses all the requirements of a Chemistry degree (Second hardest) and an Engineering degree. Be prepared to sit next to pre-medical students learning about chemistry. Be prepared to take the same courses as a Physics Major, same courses as a Math Major, and learn about thermodynamics that an Engineering Major will take.

Which one is better computer scienceB-Tech or computer engineeringBE?

Both degrees same, there is no such difference in them. SOme universities provide BE engineering degree and some provide b.tech degree..Bachelor of Engineering (BE) is an undergraduate academic degree awarded to a student after three to five years of studying engineering at universities. However most other institutions in India use the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree and some of them are in the process of replacing over to the B.Tech programme.
