If it's an antique item there are a lot of antique dealers that can tell you it's value. However, they will usually try to buy it from you for a lot less so they can resell it for a lot more. And, if it's a collectible item, such as comic books or Baseball cards you can just enter the name of the item in Google and generally find out the value online.

1. You can find a business in your town that gives appraisals. You take your item in and they'll appraise it for you.

2.You can find a on-line source that can help you. If you google it, depending on your item, a couple of different websites should come up. Check to make sure its a reliable source. You can send in pictures or you can send it to the company itself.

3. Check out a book at your library and do some research on it.
