2nd Answer:
It depends on the condition of the coin and is it a 1909 S or what? The average price seemed to be around $18.00 to $50.00 for non S. If it was a S then it was anywhere from $500 to $1,000. I found this on Ebay. Just go there and put the description of your penny, "1909 vdb penny" (no extra e in penny) in the search bar and look at what is listed and why the prices differ. Good luck.

Current retail for a certified XF 1909-S VDB is about .
A lot of money and 4,000 miles. 1909 VDB cents were struck in Philadelphia and retail for about $7. Like all Phila. coins before 1979/80 (except for "war nickels") they do not have a mint mark. 1909-S VDB cents were struck in San Francisco and have a small S under the date. These are much rarer and retail for $900 to $1500 depending on condition.
A 1909-S VDB penny!
VDB is a designation for some 1909 dated cents it has nothing to do with nickels and there is no such thing as a VDB nickel.
The 1909-S VDB is the rarest and most valuable Lincoln cent that exists, and is worth no less than $500, and the value increases with better condition.
Assuming it has no mint mark under the date, retail is $8.00 to $16.00 depending on condition.
Assuming it has no mint mark under the date, retail is $6 to $10 depending on condition.
1909 VDB - extra fine condition (EF40) - $20 1909 -S VDB - EF40 - $ 1500 1909 - EF40 - $7.00 1909-S - EF40 - $275
Not unless you have a 1909 S VDB cent. If you have this coin it will have a S under the date and the letters VDB on the reverse at the very bottom.
You're probably thinking of "VDB", the initials of the coin's designer Victor D. Brenner. Please see the question "What is the value of a 1909 Lincoln cent?" for more information.
1909 VDB (Victor D. Brenner) About $5-30 depending on condition. 1909 S VDB: About $800-8000 depending on condition.
