sammler.com, a major German collectibles site, quotes retail prices at around €2 for a coin with slight wear, twice that for an uncirculated one. If the condition is less, it's only worth its face value at the time Germany switched to the euro in 2002 - about 25 cents (either US or EU)

50 pf coins were relatively uncommon in circulation but aren't considered to be rare. In average circulated condition they're only worth a dollar or so.

If your coin is in better condition, check between the word "pfennig" and the denomination for the mint mark. sammler.com, a major German collectibles site, lists the following approximate retail values as of 03/2010:

In spite of relatively low mintages, in average condition most 50-pf coins are worth only face value (about a quarter) or slightly more. In almost-uncirculated condition a 1970 50-pf coin might have a retail value of around US$3.00.
