Tatty Teddy, in the form of a drawing of a cute little gray bear, first appeared in 1995 on greetings cards published by Carte Blanche Greetings Ltd (UK).

Tatty Teddy was designed by Mike Payne, a graphic artist, who based Tatty Teddy on his sketches of a brown bear that he first started drawing in 1987. A range of Tatty Bear soft toys was the next development, but originally they were called 'Me to You' bears because 'Me to You' is the name of the Carte Blanche company that makes and markets them.

HISTORYIn 1995 Carte Blanche cards launched their 'Me to You' range of greetings cards featuring the gray Tatty Teddy. This lovable character rapidly became the hallmark figure of the company, this iconic bear also forming a significant part of Carte Blanche's 'Me to You' gift range introduced in 1997.

2000: First Tatty Teddy soft toys produced.

2008: Tatty Teddy plays starring role on UK TV, in the first TV advertisement promoting 'Me to You' gifts and cards.

2009: Tatty Teddy becomes the basis for a range of animated messages that can be sent via the internet. In March 2009 he appears on gift tags of floral gifts. In May 2009 year Tatty Teddy also gets a slight style change, making him even more loveable!

May 2010: The bear begins his career as a key character in a range of global digital media products, such as in console and internet games.

From December 2010 onwards: Tatty Teddy becomes 'sendable' via e-cards from mobile cellphones.

February 2012: Tatty Teddy appears on an iPad app.
