No such thing as a Winged Liberty penny. 1943 Lincoln cents are steel. The Winged Liberty (or Mercury) design was used on dimes in 1943.
The last Liberty dimes, called the "Winged Liberty Head" or "Mercury" dimes were minted in 1945. In1945 they were replaced by the Roosevelt dime which is still used.
The 1944 Mercury Dimes (aka - Winged Liberty Head) were minted in Phillie, Denver, and San Francisco.
There is no such thing as a 1968 Liberty dime. Winged Liberty (Mercury) dimes stopped being minted in the mid-1940s. All 1968 dimes are Roosevelt Dimes, not silver, not rare, and are worth simply 10 cents unless in proof condition.
A dime with a winged head design will have a portrait of Liberty wearing a winged cap, while a Mercury dime will have a depiction of Liberty with a winged Phrygian cap. The winged head design is more commonly associated with the Barber series, whereas the Mercury dimes were minted from 1916 to 1945.
1916 to 1945. The coins were supposed to be called Liberty dimes but the winged cap on Liberty's head made her look like the Greek god Mercury. They were almost immediately nicknamed Mercury dimes and that's what they're called today.
Miss Liberty appears on all Mercury dimes. The nickname comes from the resemblance of her winged liberty cap to the helmet worn by the Greek god Mercury.Click on the link below for more information.
Dimes minted from mid-1916 to the end of 1945 all carry a picture of Miss Liberty. The coin's designer chose to depict her wearing a winged "Liberty cap" (the wings signify freedom) that strongly resembled the winged cap worn by the Roman god Mercury. The coins very quickly were nicknamed "Mercury dimes" and the name has stuck ever since.

All dimes minted from 1916 through 1945 are the same and are called Mercury Dimes, or also called Winged Liberty Head dimes. I have added a link to a picture of a 1936 dime. The 1935 would look the same expect for the date
No, but the famous "Mercury" dime got its nickname because the winged cap worn by Miss Liberty looks very much like the cap worn by the god Mercury. The coins were supposed to be called Winged Liberty dimes but almost immediately became known as Mercury dimes because of the resemblance. They're still called that today, nearly 100 years after they were first minted.
