It can be done as an actual athletic competition, in which case the outcome is not planned but depends upon the skill and strength of the wrestlers, and it can also be done as a form of entertainment, in which case the outcome is planned in advance.

Not all wrestling is. WWE is for ratings which means money. The rivalries, many moves and even the victor are usually predetermined beforehand although much commentary and many moves are ad libbed. It still requires great skill and is dangerous and the blood (if any) is usually real.

Everything about professional wrestling is pre planned........even what happens during the match. The only time it isn't is when a wrestler "goes into business for himself" meaning they deviate from the pre planned action to make themselves look better than their opponent.
