How many points do you need to win a round of judo?

To win a judo Round, you need to get an ippon (10 points) two wazari's (7 points each) or to have the most coca's (3 points, but these dont count unless you go overtime) at the end of the match. Rounds last 3 minutes unless one person wins beforehand with an ippon or two wazari's OR it will go into overtime, where the first throw executed wins.

Yes. It all depends on where you are Fencing, and for what.

In the competions in the Green Mountain Devision, you generally have a 5 touch bout, or 3 minutes. But that is just in the pools. In Direct Eliminations (DE's) we have a 15 touch bout with 3 minute periods. It is hard to explain it all.

Fencing is a sport that preserves the art of sword fighting, no longer in use for obvious reasons. Fencing is divided into three weapons: epee, saber, and foil. These each have different rules, but the basic goal is the same: hitting your opponent earns you a point. Only in Epee will two people hitting each other at the same time earn them both points. Bouts are usually fenced to 5, 10, or 15 points: whoever reaches that number of points first wins. The bouts are usually either three minutes long, or for longer, more professional bouts, in three three minute periods, with one-minute breaks in between. In three period bouts, lack of blade contact (like if other fencers just stare at each other and do nothing) for 10 seconds will end the period, depending on how prudently the referee sticks to the rules. While two people hitting simultaneously earns them both points in Epee, on the last point, this does not change the score. Ex: In a bout out of 5 points with a score of 4-4, both fencers hit each other at the same time. The score is still 4-4. If the time runs out and the score is even, another one minute break is given. Then, priority is assigned by a machine to one fencer. Next, one minute is given to fence, in a sort of sudden death; the first person to score wins. If no one scores, the person with priority wins the bout.

Here are the specific rules to Epee, Foil, and Saber.

Epee: The entire body is target, simultaneous touches (double touches) are awarded to both fencers, you must hit your target with the point of your blade

Foil: Only the chest, bottom of the mask (bib) and back are targets, simultaneous touches are awarded to only one fencer based on a complicated system of rules known as "right of way," you must hit your target with the point of your blade, hits deemed "off target" halt the match

Saber (also Sabre): Everything but the legs and downwards is target, simultaneous touches are awarded to only one fencer based on a complicated system of rules known as "right of way," you may hit your opponent either with the side of the blade (slashing) or its point, hits deemed "off target" do not count but do NOT halt the match, fleches (a way of attacking in which a fencer simply runs towards the other, abandoning footwork) are banned

Right of Way:

Right of way is based on the concept of honor. In right of way, whoever initiated the attack first (lunged, or attacked directly in some other way) has right of way. So, if two people attack but one lunged first, even though both lights on the machine go off, the referee awards the point the initiator of the attack. If both people initiated the attack simultaneously, the touch is deemed "simultaneous" and no points are awarded. When someone parries an attack, or knocks the opponents blade aside (even if the blade does not move, the only requirement for a parry is blade contact, even accidental) the right of way is transferred to them. A parry riposte is an action in which someone parries an attack, then attacks back. Parrying twice will actually transfer the right of way back to the opponent. So, if one person initiates the attack, and the other parries, then ripostes (attacks back) but they hit at the same time, the fencer who riposted will be awarded the point. If some one misses their attack and then begins another, separate attack (called a remise), which of course requires an experienced referee to judge, they have lost their right of way. For example, one fencer lunges, the other parries, ripostes, misses, and remises, then they hit at the same time. The initial attacker had right of way. If a fencer does not have right of way, but hits the opponent on target and is not hit by them first or at the same time (1/16th of a second is enough of a difference in time, determined by the machine), it doesn't matter, they still get the point. If two fencers hit at the same time and the one with right of way is off target, the other on target, neither gets the point.

In Epee, any touch on the opponent's body with the tip of your blade will earn you a point, whereas in Foil you typically must have the right of way to score with the tip. Sabre also typically requires right of way, but you are allowed to use your whole blade to score a touch.
