Unfortunately there is, and please do not take this as a smart alleyk reply; take the average age of death of all your elderly relatives, and subtract that number by 30 years. If your family is full of centenerians for example, the age limit for you to get started learning Kung Fu, would be the age of 70. If people in your family tend to die at 80, then, the age limit is 50. So, with honesty, yes there is an age limit, because acquiring skill proficiency takes time. Even mastering a stance is difficult, and THAT I can vouch for; I have been struggling with the Zhan Zhuang stance for months now.
If you are extremely old, and very close to the average age of death for your family, it is better that you just take up Tai Chi Chuan, at least that way you will meet death more gracefully, and without pain. In olden times, Chinese masters would not train anyone over the age of 12.
The learning of a martial arts has nothing to do with age. One can begin the study at any age.
You can learn a martial art at any age. As long as the individual is willing to work at it, they can learn a martial art. It may take longer to master the physical side of things, but the mental is often easier.
