Hello.
Originately sex was reserved as an intimate act of love between two married people. Today what we are witnessing is how dramativcally sex has changed things, not for better but for worse.
If we defy a physical law, such as the law of gravity, you suffer the consequences. The same is true if you defy a moral law, such as the one that is stated in The Bible. Read 1 Thessalonians 4: 3 which reads: " Abstain from fornication. " Fornication means " sex between two unmarried people".
So to answer your question; The moral law in the Bible is the best way to protect one's self. The moral law from the Bible includes protection of things such as sexual transmitted disease, unwanted pregnancy, or the lost of God's favour, which are the devastating consequences that can come to anyone who violates God's moral law regarding sex between two unmarried people.
For example a U.S study revealed that by the time young people finish high school, 2 out of 3 youths are sexually active and most of them who have engaged in premarital sex say that they regretted it afterward.
Disillusionment: Deep down, many girls would prefer someone who will protect them, not use them. And many boys find that they are less attracted to a girl who has given in to their advances.
The reality of sex between two unmarried people is far different from what is shown in movies and on T.V. The entertainment industry glamorizes sex and makes it look like harmless fun or even true love, which is not the case.
The Bible is a letter from God for our teaching, according to 2 Timothy 3: 16,17 And here is what you can read in 1 Corinthians 13: 4,5 in the New Testamant. " Love does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interest.
So It is more important to know what is right or wrong concerning something as beautiful as intimate love, where sex has a great role to play if we want to be happy. Read Isaiah 48: 17,18 where it shows that God's teaching is to benefit ourself. He wants us to pay attention to His commandments that are there to protect us in all walks of life, even our sex life.
Kind regards
