The rocks found in the mantle are usually olivine, pyroxenes, spinal structure minerals, and garnet. Some others are peridotite, dunite, and eclogite.
When basalt undergoes metamorphism, it can change into a metamorphic rock called greenstone. Greenstone is a fine-grained metamorphic rock that forms from the alteration of basalt through metamorphic processes like recrystallization and the growth of new minerals.

Two reasons: first, peridotite is native to the mantle where as eclogite is formed from the metamorphism of oceanic crust; secondly, eclogite has a much higher density than peridotite and so it sinks to the lower mantle.
Basalt pushed into the crust by subduction will likely become metamorphosed into a rock called eclogite due to the high pressure and temperature conditions experienced in the subduction zone.
